Call for papers migration and the environment
Caros,
encaminho a chamada para envio de artigos pedida:

The success of the panels dedicated to the migration history at the American Society for Environmental History conference in Phoenix convinced us to push forward our work on this issue.
For this reason we solicit all of you to think about submitting a proposal for a paper on this topic for the next publications we are planning: it will be for sure the special issue of Miradas en Movimiento (www.espaciodeestudiosmigratorios.org), but we are confident that we will be able also to edit a book on this issue (several publisher companies seem interested in it).
Hence, if you are interested in submitting an article, we would be very grateful if you could let us know, sending us a ‘declaration of interest’ by the end of May.
Regarding the special issue, we are willing to consider articles also in languages other than English (Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French).
Below, you will find again the cfps for the special issue which in term of topics cover more or less all the arguments we would like to address also in the edited book.
Consider also the opportunity to join the EMiGR network, if you are not, so we will stay in touch for future common project (http://migration-environment.webnode.com/).

CFPS
Naturally, immigrants

Miradas en Movimiento, refereed publication of the Espacio de Estudios
Migratorios-EEM, has the pleasure to announce the Call for Papers to a special monograph issue that will be edited with EMiGR network, along 2011.
This volume will be oriented to the aspects related with geo-territorial
implications on migration processes (climate change, environment, territorial
transformations). Papers for this call, “Naturally immigrants”, will be received
until September 1st 2011, and the final Edition is estimated to be finish at the
end of 2011.
The volume will be edited by Sergio Prieto Díaz, Marco Armiero and Richard Tucker.

Possible topics for articles:
Bodies, migration, and environment
Climate change and migration
Perceptions of nature
Environmental cultures and immigrants
Commons and immigrants
Knowledge, ethnicity and practices of nature
Food, nature and immigrants
Ethnic relationships and the environment
Urban gardening and immigrant communities
The greening of the anti-immigration discourse
Cultural landscapes

We strongly suggest to submit papers in English and we recommend an attentive revision of the language by a native speaker; unfortunately, we do not have resources to provide for a professional language editor. A translated abstract in Spanish must be enclosed. Nevertheless, we may consider also article written in other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian). We encourage following strictly our “Guide for Authors” (http://espaciodeestudiosmigratorios.org/es/miradas-enmovimiento-mem/requisitos-para-autores), to avoid undesired delays in their evaluation, or rejections no matter their content.

Papers will be received at mem@espaciodeestudiosmigratorios.org (include in the Subject “Naturally Immigrants article”).

We also kindly ask those who are interested in submitting an article to send us a “declaration of interest” by the end of May.

Cordialmente,
Flávia Varella
Secretaria
